Reading to children is not only great fun, it is also incredibly educational. Reading aloud contributes to children's development. For instance, reading aloud increases vocabulary, stimulates empathy and builds a stronger emotional bond with your child. Is your child restless? Even then, reading aloud is a big help. After all, reading aloud helps calm them down and they sleep much better as a result. Stichting Lezen wanted to generate more attention to the importance of reading aloud to small children and therefore approached us. We were asked to develop an app that gives parents constant access to the best reading and book tips for their children.

Tips for fun read-aloud books

The app is full of read-aloud tips for the very young. This way parents and carers are always up to date with the best books. Parents can easily create a reading list in which they can save their favourite books. Extra handy: with the BoekStart widget on the home screen of your phone or tablet, you can see at a glance which books are trending. The app also contains all kinds of tips to make reading aloud as fun and effective as possible.

Fun extra features

Parents can also upload a photo of their reading aloud moment in the app. The best photos receive a nice prize from Stichting Lezen, such as a book or a cuddly toy. A read-aloud timer has also been built into the app. This allows parents to add regularity and structure to their child's reading time.

Campaigns for extra attention

We also frequently build different campaign pages to feature in the app. When someone opens the app, a campaign screen appears, drawing attention to a particular topic such as the National Read Aloud Days. We were also asked to design the illustrations that you see in the app. In short; a project with which we hope to encourage as many parents and children as possible to open a book.
